This is one of
several interlinked sites I am developing
around the core concept of a sustainable
business network. It will eventually
include community tools, Internet
marketing strategies, a virtual incubator
for sustainable enterprises, a research
site, and a number of other elements. For

It will be some time before this site is
operational. I am currently setting up my
own hosting facility, and building a
number of site in connection with this and
other projects.
Roadmap to a Sustainable Future
I hope you will
find this site useful as a way-station on
the road to a sustainable future for
yourself, your children, your community,
and our planet. We now know that this
transition is necessary, and is perhaps
more imminent than most of us suspected.
The recognition of the impacts of global
warming, the need to absorb and reprocess
our own waste products, the demand for
world peace and worldwide tolerance and
social justice, are greater than ever. And
like all transitions, this one offers both
challenges and opportunities, and there
will be bumps in the road (as well as
cliffs that we need to avoid going over).
But we're more interested here in the
opportunities.
It is increasingly clear that this
transition needs to be led by business,
and that there are many ways to achieve
both sustainability and greater profitability. Based
on the inspiring visions of people like
Paul Hawken (author of The Ecology of Commerce, The Next Economy, Natural Capitalism and others)
and Ray Anderson, CEO of Interface,
Inc., a $1 billion industrial
company committed to full sustainability
by 2020 (and already more than half-way
there), this site will offer practical
tools, knowledge, and connections for
building the sustainable economy.
Purpose
This site is the
gateway to a virtual community, based on
the principles of environmental
sustainability, moral equality, social
justice, economic prosperity, and civic
engagement. It is focused on creating an
alternative economy, because
everyone needs and deserves to make a
living, through meaningful and productive
work that adds value to society, is
ecologically sustainable, recognizes their
dignity and worth as human beings, and
provides them with the opportunity for
self-realization.
This community has a place for everyone,
and recognizes that each person has a
unique purpose. Each of us, in addition to
our other roles, is a planetary citizen, a
unique individual with the opportunity to
make a unique contribution. Some of us
have already found our own ways of making
this contribution. If you have not, this
site may provide that opportunity, or at
least provide a vehicle to explore some
additional avenues of work and
self-expression.
At bottom, it is based on a very simple
idea: the economy we desire is based on
the sum total of our real wants, needs,
and aspirations, as we express them
through our purchases, our investments,
and our life choices. It requires a free
marketplace of ideas; maximizing
awareness, knowledge, and innovation;
understanding history, ecology,
psychology, and marketing; and empowering
each of us to live to our full
potential.

The success of this site is based on
your input, on your
intellectual, emotional, and
economic reaction to the ideas
presented here. If they do not resonate
with you, if the elements presented do not
immediately add value to your
life, we want to know what we can do for
you and how we can make it better.
Consequently the centerpiece is a system
